We all go through life acquiring talents, learning skills, and having life changing experiences. For what reason? Are they a build up for something greater or maybe a designed purpose not yet revealed?
Take my life for example. I was born to American parents in Eastern Canada in the 1960’s. My father was a chief geologist and mining engineer which led our family all over Canada. We lived up by the Artic circle in minus 50 degree weather. We lived in northern Saskatchewan at the end of all roads. We moved to British Columbia and I was blessed with a sister at 7 years old.
My parents were very supportive and prepared me for life at an early age. Before I was 8, they nationalized me as a U.S. citizen. By 10, I was playing soccer, baseball, and in a scout troop. By 12, I had traveled all over the western and southern U.S. to California, Texas, and Florida. I had already learned outdoor survival skills like hunting, ice fishing, and shelter construction. By 15, I was snow ski racing in the Canadian Rockies. I learned mining techniques such as diamond rock drilling, blasting, staking claims, and even building processing plants.
Our family moved to Sacramento California in the late 1970’s. My experiences and interests accelerated in high school, leading to law, sciences, math, and especially history. I enrolled at California State University Sacramento. I seemed very interested in history, finance, investments, and portfolio theories. After I graduated in 1986 from CSUS with a degree in finance and management, I went to work in San Francisco in the telecommunications industry. Within a year, I was back in Sacramento learning commercial loan financing and construction. After a brief career as a California real estate broker, I became a California general contractor in 1989.
I opened up a construction company and started framing and building custom homes all over the local area. Many of the homes were extremely intricate and complicated, ranging from 3,000 to over 14,000 square feet. I seemed to be a natural at it, able to visualize a finished home in my mind from a set of blue prints. In 1996, I started building and remodeling commercial properties. Starting with small shopping center remodels and eventually focusing on offices, hair salons, restaurants, and food service.
I fell in love and married my wife Sandra in 2000. I had surprised her with a trip to Maui and proposed to her at the New Year’s Eve celebration under fireworks on the beach.
Since then we have had too many incredible experiences to list here. When I look back at all of the people I have met and all the events that have occurred, I am in awe!
This has forced me to focus on divine intervention as the only possibility. These experiences, natural talents, and learned skills must be for something greater. I feel compelled to write about it, spread the word and help someone like you to look back at your life and realize that it can’t all be coincidence! Basic logic and simple probability theory will show you, like me, that something greater is involved in our lives. We have a destiny and a purpose. Perhaps I can help you find yours?
“For I know the plans I have for you, ” declares the Lord. ” Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Thank you for this opportunity.
