Have you ever had a series of thoughts that wouldn’t go away? Hour after hour, day after day the same line of thinking occurs again and again. It could be an idea, an invention, or a burst of creativity like a small fire deep inside of you that wants to develop. The real question; where did the idea come from? Was your sudden inspiration mere luck or coincidence or possibly a Divine revelation?
Then there is the timing. Was your thought a solution to a problem or just in time to take advantage of opportunities? Maybe you were diverted to follow a different path in life?
These are some of the questions and thoughts I had prior to writing Coincidence or Christ? It was 2009 and my mind was bombarded with thoughts about God and my purpose in life. For the year prior I kept observing small miracles of blessings and timing. There were so many, I started recording them in a notebook. Then for about a week after my grandmother had passed away I went deep in thought. Could I actually apply logic and probability numbers to these thoughts and miracles? Could I create simple mathematical models to confirm divine intervention into events? My real curiosity was more like doubt. Why me? Of all the millions of people in the world, especially the more intelligent souls and well versed believers, why me?
My solution was to pray. “God, surely you have others in the world who can better explain these concepts. I can’t be the only person having these particular thoughts, or am I?”
Then not even a minute later the miracle occurred that would inspire me to write a book. At a stop light, I looked up at the car in front of me and read the license plate. It read, “Only you!” What are the possibilities? The timing? The sudden answer to prayer? What are the odds it was just a coincidence?
I started to research it. The Federal Highway Administration notes that in 2010 there were 30,461,228 registered motor vehicles in Ca. What about timing? There are 1,440 minutes in a day ( 24 hours x 60 minutes). The rough odds are 1,440 x 30,461,228 = 43,864,170,000. Roughly the chances of this particular motor vehicle with a very specific prayer answering plate in front of me a minute after my prayer, are over 43 billion to one!
This could not be a coincidence! I felt God’s presence and I know He had answered me. This became my inspiration for writing Coincidence or Christ? I actually have hundreds of examples now. There is no doubt that divine intervention is real. My goals in life have now changed. I want to show others like you that there are no coincidences. Events, talents, chance meetings in our lives are way beyond luck. Coincidence or Christ? Is a book inspired by observation and divine intervention.
In there hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
