Have you ever found yourself at a specific place at the exact right time? Possibly, you just “ran into” a friend, a loved one, or a new acquaintance that turned into a miraculous connection. What about thoughts, worries or prayers that are seemingly answered by timely words, memories, or songs from others? Was it just chance, synchronicity, or extreme coincidence? I believe there are no coincidences. The Lord uses infinite methods to calm our worries, correct our paths, prosper our futures, and answer prayers.
I remember a personal experience years ago. I was working on a restaurant late at night for over a week. I could only work from 10pm to 6am when the restaurant was closed. ” I had worked the past three nights, and loss of sleep was catching up to me”. The job was 25 miles from our home. Both my wife and I were very worried about the drive late at night. I kept having thoughts of being in a wreck. My wife and I were beyond nervous. I had no choice and had to finish the job. My solution was to drink a lot of strong coffee.
” I prayed nervously before I jumped into my truck; I really prayed. I turned on the radio loudly to keep myself awake. Just then, the station played “Kyrie Eleison” by Mr. Mister. The exact verse was:
Kyrie eleison down the road that I must travel
Kyrie eleison, through the darkness of the night
Kyrie eleison, where I’m going will you follow
Kyrie eleison, on a highway in the light
I burst into tears of joy and relief! Why? For a number of reasons. First, I am Greek, and these particular words mean a lot. Kyrie eleison means ” Lord have mercy” in Greek, and it’s part of a prayerful plea to God. Second, my mother had died about 8 years earlier, and this was one of her favorite songs. Third, I felt God was answering me specifically and telling me not to worry, that I would be protected. Talk about timing and word selection. This could not be coincidence!”
The odds are incredible that this song would play and answer my prayers and worries. There are 1440 minutes in a day (24×60). There are over a million different song possibilities. If we said there were only 2,000, this would already be a 2,880,000 to one chance that this particular song would play at this minute of my departure (1,440×2,000). What about the exact words? My past experiences? My Greek heritage? There is no chance this was a coincidence.
Maybe the Lord has answered you this way and at the time it didn’t seem miraculous. Timing is critical. It shows us that God is with us. He loves us, He cares, and He is always just a prayer away.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 ( NIV )
Thankyou for allowing me to share my observations
